This Episode: Making 2026 Your Best Year Yet – Part 1
As we close out the year, I want to pause and simply acknowledge something we’re all feeling. It’s been a strange one. A lot of uncertainty, a lot of noise, and for many retailers, a fair amount of anxiety. In this episode of Real Retail TV, I talk about why recognizing that feeling matters and why it’s also the first step to moving past it. Because while you can’t control everything that’s happening around you, you can control how you show up for what comes next. And what comes next can be pretty exciting if you’re willing to look at it differently.
This conversation is really about perspective, confidence, and remembering who you are as a retailer. We’ll explore what it means to trust your experience, calm the noise, and step into 2026 with intention instead of fear. I also touch on a practical way to invest in yourself right now while the Retail Mastery System is available at its end-of-year pricing — not as a pitch, but as a reminder that when you commit to learning and growth, momentum follows. If you’ve been feeling uneasy about the future, I think this episode will remind you that you are far more capable than you may be giving yourself credit for.

Well, hello everyone. And let’s start this end of the year episode of Real Retail TV by just acknowledging that it’s been a weird year. There has been a lot of uncertainty.
There’s been a lot of anxiety, and let’s just recognize it. And by recognizing it, let’s put it in the past. So in this episode of Real Retail TV, we’re going to explore moving into twenty twenty six with enthusiasm and passion and positivity and optimism and all the things that we need to think about to make twenty twenty six a banner year.
So again, let’s acknowledge that it’s been a weird year. I mean, so many threads on our Facebook community, Whizbang Retailers, which by the way, if you’re not a member, I’d encourage you to join. But so many threads sort of revolving around the anxiety, the economic uncertainty that is happening in the world. And one of the things that to, you know, to do is to recognize that how you feel is real.
And so if you’re feeling anxious, don’t deny it. Just recognize that how you feel is real, but also recognize that you control your destiny. You control your emotions, but most importantly, you can control your destiny. So even though twenty five has been anxiety inducing, let’s make twenty twenty six something special.
So I want you to think about this idea of you have what it takes to become anything that you want to become.
So let me use a metaphor here.
So I am not an expert sailor, but I did spend, I think, four yeah. Four three and a half, four weeks living on a boat, sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Georgetown in the Bahamas. And I met a lot of people who lived on their sailboats and a lot of people who had made transatlantic crossings. And you could always tell the grizzled veterans, the people who had sailed a lot because they had this calmness about everything in their control.
So the first time and so the guy I sailed with, I we never ran any really, really dangerous weather, I’m happy to say. But the guy I sailed with, the guy who owned the boat, he had been through several big storms. He almost I mean, he lost his mast in a storm. And he was incredibly calm about just about anything that seemed to be coming our way our way.
And it’s because he had been there. You see? So every time something bad happened to him, he not only learned the lesson lessons about sailing, you know, how to manage his boat, how to manage his equipment. More importantly than that, or just as importantly than that, he learned how to manage his emotions.
You see, once you go through something difficult, you learn that you have what it takes to do it again. You know, fear is merely thinking that you’re not up to what is in front of you. And so if you’re have if you’re going into twenty six feeling anxious or feeling fearful, I’m just looking at you and saying you are up to anything that the economy might throw at you. You have been through COVID for crying out loud.
Whenever these threads pop up on retailers, I like to remind people, we’re playing a long game. You have been through worse than this. Calm down. You know what to do.
And if you don’t know what to do, it is available to you. The information is available to you.
If you don’t know what to do, you can find it. You know, right now, the retail mastery system is on sale. And this isn’t about the retail mastery system, but it just as well could be. If you don’t know what to do, go out and invest in the information you need to become a better version of you. So I’ve talked about this many times before.
Every problem you have in your business or your life points to the need to develop a new skill.
So if business isn’t what you want it to be, ask yourself, what is the problem? Then go find the skill. Then learn the skill. Don’t have enough sales?
That is typically a sales and marketing function. Become a better marketer. Teach your team how to sell more effectively. You’re sitting on too much inventory.
Learn how to manage your inventory. You are anxious and afraid, learn to manage yourself and your stress. So every single thing that is causing you anxiety and stress is solvable. You know, Marie Foley says it has this no, Marie Foley, oh, I’m sorry, has this book out called Everything is Figureoutable, and everything is figureoutable.
So I’m just looking at all of you and telling you, you are enough. You are enough.
Don’t be afraid. You have made it through COVID. You have made it through far worse than anything that has ever hap that is happening right now. So ask yourself, what is keeping me from making two thousand and twenty six the absolute best year that it can be?
And it could be that you have to, discard some beliefs that don’t serve you. It could be that you have to learn some skills to manage yourself more effectively. It could be that you need to create some habits that make you a better person. It could be that you need to learn some skills, some retail specific skills.
You may need to invest in the retail mastery system. Yes. I’m talking about the retail mastery system. But recognize that everything you need to become everything you want to become is available to you.
Make that commitment to making yourself a better person in twenty twenty six.
And that commitment to becoming a better person, a better business person. When the intent is to become better, the results will follow. Don’t be bitter, get better. Make twenty twenty six the year that you’re going to do everything you know in your heart you need to do to become the kind of person that does the right work. Because when you become the person who is doing the right work, the results will follow.
And that’s really, that’s what it’s all about.
You making a commitment to being a better person. You making a commitment to developing your skills. You making commitment to solving those problems. You making a commitment to building the kind of business and life that you deserve. You are enough.
This can be done.
You can do it. So that’s my message for twenty twenty six. I’m encouraging you.
I’m imploring might be too strong, but I’m just looking at you and saying, twenty twenty six can and should be the best year in your business and the best year in your life.
Make it so.
All right, everybody. And finally, you know, one more time.
The Retail Mastery System is on sale until the end of the year. You will get the tax it’s our tax sale. You will get the write off if you make that investment right now. And if you want to make twenty twenty six the best year you can make it, you know, and you don’t have the Retail Mastery System, I guarantee it be one of those resources that will pull you along, that will push you along, that will make you better and make you a better business person, make you a better retailer.
You’re gonna have a lot more fun in your business when you know what you know, when you know what’s in the Retail Mastery System. So anyway, happy New Year everybody. Take care. Bye bye.
