How To Who
On our Facebook Group, WhizBang! Retailers, I recently asked a personal, but very important question: “What is keeping you from the kind of success you want and deserve?”
The number of heartfelt responses inspired me to make this training video (watch time approximately 20 minutes) outlining 4 ways to breakdown the obstacles in your way. You start by switching from looking at HOW to looking for WHO because when you figure out who can help you to get where you want to go, it gives you the ability to get there faster.
Please share your comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Get Your Marketing Plan
With hands-on guidance from Susan and me and the proven WhizBang! Marketing System, you can build the marketing plan you need in just 3 days. It’s guaranteed to bring more customers through your door and generate more money!
This is the first I’ve heard of whizbang and the first video watched. I found it refreshing, however I’ve been through the immersion experience many, many times and still feeling stuck.
I’d never thought when I started my handmade jewelry business that #1, I was Self-Taught in jewelry making, though have no kind of background in the business end.
Another strike against me and my business is the fact that I live in a very rural community, the country life. Many would be customers I’ve heard say the jewelry is beautiful but have no types of events where I could wear this, or I have no clothing to wear it with, and mainly it’s too expensive (remember I live in the boonies)what am I to do to fix the problem and market myself better. Is there something you can recommend.
Many articles and books focus on business owners living in a city or big towns, this doesn’t work for me.
And when it comes to marketing I’ve done what I know, but think I’m going about it in the wrong way. I’m the last 4yrs my income has continuously fallen. Though in 2018 it didn’t help that my husband of 25yrs died unexpectedly. I lost about $5,000.00 this year. It may seem like pennies to you but is a lot to me and I want MUCH higher numbers in the near future and then some.
I’m a one man band, I have to do it all. This year will be the 8th yr. in the business and had high hopes that my numbers would be higher. My work is out of my home and my store is here as well.
I’m pleading with you for help, recommendations, direction, just so disappointed, and feeling like I’ve failed myself. I know that I should be further along in this business by going on 8yrs.
Please I ask of you, anything you can recommend, I’ve been in denial of what this business has not become for about 3-4yrs now.
Thank You for your time.

Hi Vicki,
First of all, I am sorry about your husband. While there are many things we can do to help you, I would like to recommend a couple that are inexpensive or free. First, subscribe to our Tip Of The Week and join our facebook group WhizBang! Retailers. The way to build your sales is with marketing and I’d recommend our book “Marketing Your Retail Store In The Internet Age.” It’s quite old, but holds up really well. Specifically read about Gift Certificate marketing. Call our office at 800-842-1660 to get your copy. Good luck!
Vicki,
Are you doing any mail order? You can get your products listed on sites where small businesses can purchase for resale in their store. Faire.com, HelloAbound.com and Tundra.com are a few of these. Have you considered teaching jewelry making to local residents or to those in nearby areas that may want to come to where you are? Sometimes when someone learns how to make something they decide they would rather just purchase because now they know what all goes into it and you can make some income from the classes. I teach classes at my store and invite others in to teach. Since Covid we have had to reduce class sizes but we have still been able to hold classes.
Great chat today Bob. Working on a lot of this! Love the How-Who Concept – it alleviates a certain level of procrastination because it’s often harder to try to figure out how, than to find the who!
